Leaves fall. Waiting for snow. This entry was posted on 11/1/2006 1:43 PM and is filed under Photo Trips, RSS 2.0. ![]() Oak leaves frame Selden Creek in Lyme, Connecticut. Big winds in the northeast over the weekend have pretty much put an end to foliage season here. A few oaks are struggling to hold onto their leaves, but for the most part the trees are bare and I've put my camera away to focus on processing the thousands of images I've shot during the last few months. ![]() Sycamore leaf, and duckweed in a beaver pond, Lyme, Connecticut. Sunday I finished up my fall shooting for our Connecticut River project. The past few days were great, not because of good color or light, but because Marcy was able to join me! (Thanks to my mom for taking the kids!) We paddled the estuary at the mouth of the river during the calm before the storm on Friday afternoon, and then enjoyed a day at the movies on Saturday when winds were howling at 50 MPH outside. ![]() Our canoe rests on a sandy island at the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Lyme, Connecticut. While the fall colors were definitely past peak, the sky turned out to be an exciting element as strong winds blew the storm out to sea. The biggest challenge was keeping the camera steady, even with a tripod, during the stronger wind gusts. ![]() Some of the bluest clouds you'll ever see. With foliage season over, I'm actually looking forward to a few weeks of work in the office, where I can actually take a good look at the overall collection of Connecticut River images we created this year. I'm also looking forward to being home for a long stretch and getting into a normal routine with Marcy, Quinn, and Acadia. Of course, one the snow starts flying, I'll be back on the road. Until next time... -Jerry |
