Sunrise in Blue Hill, Maine.

Last Friday I wrapped up a five day photo workshop based in Brooksville, Maine on the Blue Hill Peninsula. We were based at the Oakland House Seaside Resort, a wonderful compound of seaside cabins, glorious gardens, and a restaraunt that spoiled us rotten.  The Oakland House folks were kind enough to put Marcy and the kids up for the week as well, so it was great to see my family during the breaks in the class.

I had a great group of five workshop students who got along amazingly well and never once complained about the weather, and believe me there was plenty to complain about.  During the week, we had exactly one evening of nice light and one morning of nice light (on the last day of class.)  The rest of the week, we had overcast, drizzle, desnse fog, and contrasty mid-day sunshine.  Neverless, they made some great photos of the region and also spent a good amount of time indoors learning some digital imaging skills.

We explored various places in the region including McGlathery Island in Penobscot Bay, Stonington, Holbrook Island State Park, Castine, and the reversing falls in Blue Hill.  We even got some good shots of Eggemoggin Reach right from the beach at the Oakland House.

Today, that week of salt-soaked air seems a long way off as I'm photographing tobacco farms in Hadley, Massachusetts - a hot, dust-filled endeavor.  I'll try to post some of those photos tomorrow.  Wait, that'll be Thursday because tomorrow is Marcy's birthday and we'll be celebrating all day!

Until next time,
-Jerry
