I enjoy reading your blogs and learning from them as I continue my photograph skills. As a fellow northern New Englander, focusing on teaching an appreciation for nature, I recognize several of your locations and have photos of them myself. (not half as good). But it is nice to see them from your perspective and learn what I could have done differently to have a more capturing photo. Keep up the beautiful work, and I hope to have the opportunity to attend one of your workshops when my schedule allows it.

I so enjoy your writing, Jerry, especially this post with the garden metaphors. Even putting the garden to bed this weekend felt good to us.
I know it's been a tough couple of weeks, but it WILL get better!

Jerry,

I speak for many with the longing to be able to shoot the days you are able to do. Your images are wonderful, especially the Quabbin Reservoir image. The fall has been blessed with great color, and here in the Hudson Valley, the color was the week after the cold and windy weather. It has been a time to fill two 8 GB cards in a morning. Our Walkway over the Hudson opened to permit strolling over the Hudson River (1.25 miles) with breathtaking views of the Hudson, and the colors on the sides of the river banks are vibrant. Check out www.walkway.org. We have some interesting areas, with the Gunks and the Hudson Highlands, and even the low point of the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain.

It is a time now to not only work on my images recently shot, but to work deep on the organization and backup of the archive. I have added GPS taking to the images, so there is another layer in the work flow, but it adds more information to the work,

I look forward to the workshop listings for next year, and hope that I can join you in a shoot.

Bill Bogle, Jr.

Tell me about it! I always forget how big Maine is until I start poking around the north country. I'm having fun though, working on our fall foliage guidebook. It's like a treasure hunt. This summer I identified the "hot spots" I need pictures of, so now I'm just cruising around and shooting those spots where the foliage is best. Of course, it has been cloudy most of the week, which is slowing me down a bit, but the colors are excellent up here right now.
Thanks Mike! I'm sure my face did have a look of concern on it as I made my first move. Not sure much courage was involved though. I knew I was tied to a pretty sturdy tree!
